Advanced Cardiac Life Support is a certification by the American Heart Association that is required by healthcare providers and emergency responders such doctors, PA’s anesthesiologists, pharmacists, CRNA’s, nurses, paramedics, surgeons, dentists, etc. This is a required certification in workplaces such as, but not limited to, emergency department, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Operating Room (OR), Telemetry Units, EMS/Fire Departments, Surgery Centers, etc.

This course can be intimidating because it does mandate a working knowledge, comprehension and recognition of arrhythmias including Bradycardia, TachycardiaVentricular Tachycardia, Ventricular Fibrillation, Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVC), Supraventricular arrhythmias, Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT), Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia (PSVT), Atrial Fibrillation, Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, Atrial Flutter, etc.  In addition, each student must run a Megacode in which they will be expected to recognize and treat a person under a life threatening situation by choosing the correct algorithm.
